Project Overview

HelioWave pairs floating solar on a disused reservoir with shoreline storage, supplying a coastal desalination and water treatment facility that had been running on imported grid power.

What we provide:

  • Floating array design and anchoring
  • Water quality and ecology assessment
  • Storage sizing for process load
  • Private wire design
  • Marine and environmental permitting
  • Operations and access planning

Our Approach
Our platform and services are designed to make eco-conscious transformation simple, scalable, and transparent.

Anchoring was the governing constraint: the reservoir has a variable draw-down of nearly four metres, so the mooring system had to accommodate the range without loading the bank. Ecological survey drove the coverage limit, which was set at 45% of surface area to preserve light penetration and oxygenation.

Technology Used

HelioWave supplies the majority of the treatment facility's annual demand behind a private wire, and the array's operating temperature benefits measurably from the water beneath it.

  • 34 MW floating generation with 40 MWh shoreline storage
  • 68% of facility demand supplied behind the meter
  • Surface coverage capped at 45% on ecological advice
  • Reduced reservoir evaporation across the covered area
