Frontend Web Developer
About The Role
Our public site, our client reporting portal and our internal dashboards are all front-end problems, and they all have the same underlying requirement: someone has to be able to read a number and trust it. You will own how that information looks and behaves.
Key Responsibilities
This is a hands-on build role with real design latitude. You will work directly with the data team and with whoever is going to use what you make.
- Build and maintain the client reporting portal and its data visualisations.
- Own the component library and keep it consistent across products.
- Meet WCAG 2.2 AA — this is a requirement of our public contracts, not an aspiration.
- Keep pages fast on the connections and devices our users actually have.
- Work with the data team on the shape of the APIs you consume.
- Write tests for the parts that would be expensive to get wrong.
What We're Looking For
Someone who cares about the rendered result rather than the framework. We are not attached to any particular stack and would rather hire for judgement about performance and accessibility than for a list of libraries.
You should have
- Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript fundamentals.
- Experience building accessible interfaces and testing them with a screen reader.
- Data visualisation experience, in any library or none.
- An eye for the difference between finished and nearly finished.
